Lullaby [Music Video]

The song “Lullaby” was released in 2019 as the first track on Riley and the Roxies’s IV EP. The music video was then released early February of 2020. Filmed in several locations in Highland Park, California, it features Iona Catherine along with live footage of Riley and the Roxies performing at The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa.

“Lullaby came together pretty quickly. It’s a nod to both 60’s garage rock and 80’s new wave at the same time. The Rickenbacker is pretty prominent in this one, which is a guitar I bought when I was 20. I had just gotten one of my first big checks as a songwriter, and decided to buy a very expensive guitar. That guitar has become an integral part of the recording process ever since the LOLA - EP. It’s a very “partsy” guitar which in my head means that it’s meant for lead lines and riffs. The great thing about it is it brings a unique tone to everything it does as a guitar. Around the same time I discovered this plug-in called the Cooper Time Cube. It’s a really unique sounding delay that adds this splashy effect to whatever you send through it. In this case, I sent the guitars through it. I also had some fun with an Eventide Harmonizer. My buddy Caleb Morris came over once, and asked if I had it because, “Nothing sounds like it.” I agree. The Eventide Harmonizer is incredible. The vocals are pretty straight forward, the older I get the easier it is to lean into the lower register of my range.” -Spencer Alfonso
